TIPS AND TRICKS
Weather for Chrome Puts Your Local Forecast in a Toolbar

Chrome: Weather is a simple Chrome extension that gives you the local forecast with a single click on the extension’s toolbar button. You’ll see the temperature and current conditions on the button itself, updated regularly, but click it for a full expanded forecast, using data from Forecast.io. Since the data comes from Forecast.io, one of our favorite weather sites, you can trust that it’s accurate. The extension will pinpoint your location automatically, so you don’t have to tell it (although you can if you want to), and once you click on it, you’ll see current conditions on top, an hourly forecast just below that with icons that show you projected conditions, and then a five-day forecast with highs and lows, along with conditions and precipitation chance for the rest of the week.

If you’re planning a trip or just want to know if you’ll need your umbrella when you leave the house, a quick check of the weather is a must, and while looking out the window is great, it won’t tell you whether it’s going to rain in an hour, or tomorrow. You could always just Google “weather” and get similar results, but Weather puts all that information right into Chrome, a single click away. It’s simple, free, and it works.

ASK MY GF

Q: submitted by Lily Brotman

"What would your inputs be for an orgy, gb or other sex or romance related thing to celebrate being single? Pretend a lot of us here could get together next week. What would your preparations include? What kind of place would be your favorites for the party?"

A:

"I would require everyone to take a health test. I would also have a trusted friend be present to make sure I wasn't in any danger & could take me back to a comfortable place to relax after the orgy or gb. i think a private home would be the best place. does it look like I've been thinking about it? ;)"

STRANGE NEWS HEADLINES
FLORIDA -- A highly invasive species of snail has overwhelmed the Florida community by eating stucco off houses and consuming almost 500 species of plants, Business Insider reports. The Giant African Snail “can grow as big as a tennis shoe” and was discovered four years ago in Miami since its initial eradication in the 1960s. The state has already spent $10.8 million on its Giant African Snail eradication program since 2011 but “there is still no end in sight,” according to Business Insider. “The fact is they’re a human and animal health threat, and they’re a threat to Florida’s agriculture,” said state agriculture department spokesman, Mark Fagan, to Business Insider. “We can’t let the population continue.” Not only are the snails threatening plant species, but they could also carry a parasitic worm that causing a rare form of meningitis that is dangerous to humans. Officials are able to kill the snails 95 to 100 percent of the time with a molluscicide containing metaldehyde, but the snail “sometimes climbs tree to avoid the chemical pellets on the ground,” said Florida Department of Agriculture scientist, Mary Yong Cong, to Business Insider. The snails can also reproduce very easily because they are hermaphrodites “and can lay up to 1,200 eggs per year … each about the size of a Tic Tac,” according to Business Insider. Authorities believed “they had a good handle on them last year” but found 5,000 live snails in 2014 “around a single house in the wealthy Miami suburb of Pinecrest.” What makes these snails successful is that they can hide for months in the ground and “resurface in hurricane season when it is warm and wet.” So what is being done to stop these slimy intruders? Officials have made a snail-sighting hotline and will send out workers to clear them out of properties. A new phase has used “sniffer dogs on the snails trail” and two Labradors are now employed by the Department of Agriculture. 158,000 snails were removed within the past four years, but officials cannot confirm their eradication until there is no detection of the snails for two straight years.
