JOKE OF THE WEEK

A judge working a double-homicide case tells the defendant, “You’re charged with beating your wife to death with a hammer.” “You bastard!” yells a voice from the back of the courtroom. “You’re also charged with killing your mother-in-law with a hammer,” says the judge. “Bastard!” the same person yells. The judge addresses the man sitting in the back of the courtroom.“Sir, one more outburst and I’ll charge you with contempt.” “I’m sorry, Your Honor,” says the man. “But I’ve been this bastard’s neighbor for 10 years, and every time I asked to borrow a hammer, he said he didn’t have one.”

Tip and Trick of the Week
Cheat...Parking Spots!
Next time you luck out with a good parking spot and want to keep it for good, adopt these simple measures to ensure a regular swift stroll from car seat to couch groove. Find five or six empty beer bottles—check under your pillow—arrange them in the front and middle of the spot (to allow for safe arrival and getaway) and smash the living hell out of 'em with a hammer. Make sure to demolish the glass pieces into tiny shards so they won't puncture your tires, but they still need to be visible. When other drivers see all the shards of strewn glass, they'll avoid the parking spot like your mother avoids underwear. I've kept free spots for weeks on end before some asshole inevitably out-glasses me and cleans up the mess.
ASK TINA

Q: submited by P
I want to see more of this woman I'm dating but don't want to seem desperate or come on too strong. How can I play it cool but still seem interested?

A:
At the beginning of a relationship (and I consider the "beginning" to be after the fourth date when all four went really, really well), I like to hear from a guy by phone or e-mail about three times a week. For example: I'd love a call on Saturday after a Friday night date; on Tuesday just to day hi; then on Thursday to make plans for the weekend again. And I hope to go out on a date with him at least once during the weekend and maybe one weeknight in between. Any less and I'll think he's not really into it. Any more and I'll worry that he wants to get too serious too fast. Does that give you an idea?

-Tina

STRANGE NEWS HEADLINES
October 4, 2004 -- An Upper West Side woman says she was am-Bushed by a cane-wielding 86-year-old woman who apparently isn't fond of the president. Linda Fuda, 62, told The Post she was waiting in the lobby of a friend's Central Park West building yesterday carrying a Bush/Cheney sign and bumper stickers when Ruth Spitz, who was also in the lobby, suddenly accosted her. Spitz told her "get out of here with that trash, you don't belong here," Fuda said. Fuda answered, "It's not your building, it's everyone's building," at which point, she says, Spitz ripped the sign and threw it down. "I bent down to pick it up, and she hit my backside with her cane and then she tried to push me out the door." Fuda said. Reached at her apartment last night, Spitz said she'd been in the lobby waiting for her dinner companions and acknowledged asking Fuda to leave. But she insisted she never hit her with the cane or ripped the sign. She did say the two political combatants "shoved each other." "She didn't belong in the building," Spitz said. "She doesn't live here. She was carrying this great big sign, as if she were in a parade. "I'm 86 years old — I'm sure I'm not capable of hurting anybody," Spitz said. Fuda, who sells advertising space and who recently registered as a Republican, called cops, even though she wasn't hurt. She said cops told her to call back today if she wished to pursue the matter. "I wanted to file a report because someone in her state shouldn't be living alone," she said. Spitz, a retired college professor, said, "I'm not a Bush supporter," but wouldn't reveal whom she supports. She added she's not worried about the cops. "There's nothing I can do about it. I felt she had no business carrying that sign," she said
