JOKE OF THE WEEK

Tom is applying for a job as a signalman for the local railroad, and is told to meet the inspector at the signal box. The inspector decides to give Tom a pop quiz, asking, "What would you do if you realized that two trains were heading towards each other on the same track?" Tom says, "I would switch one train to another track." "What if the lever broke?" asks the inspector. "I'd run down to the tracks and use the manual lever," answers Tom. "What if that had been struck by lightning?" challenges the inspector. "Then," Tom continues, "I'd run back up here and use the phone to call the next signal box." "What if the phone was busy?" "In that case," Tom argues, "I'd run to the street level and use the public phone near the station". "What if that had been vandalized?" "Oh, well," says Tom, "in that case I'd run into town and get my Uncle Leo." This puzzles the inspector, so he asks, "Why would you do that?" "Because he's never seen a train crash!"

Cheat....Warranty!
Next time you make a large-ticket purchase, such as a digital camera or MP3 player, buy the one-year warranty, too. It typically costs only about $20-$50, depending on the cost of the item, and covers everything but theft for a year. Now you can feel free to take it anywhere, and at the end of the year, you can simply break it and get a new one. Plus, if someone does try to steal it, just throw it down and break it since the warranty covers all but theft! contributions or suggestions to webmaster@sublimedirectory.com

Q: submited by Rigger
When is a woman most apt to get pregnant, before or after her period?
A:
Before. Here’s the lowdown: there’s much more to the monthlies than a visit from Aunt Flo and a possible hiatus from getting it on. There are three distinct phases in the average 28-day cycle: the follicular phase, ovulation, and the luteal phase. The first and last phases are mainly to prepare and create a comfortable environment should there be a bun in the oven. It is during the second phase, ovulation, that a woman is most fertile. It’s the shortest phase of the three, generally occuring about halfway into the cycle (roughly 14 days before her period starts—unless, of course, she’s on the pill) and lasting for a couple days at most. This is when the ovary releases the egg into the uterus to lie in wait for the right little swimmer to come splashing in. The closer you get to letting your froth fly at that time, the more likely she is to get preggers. But I must voice my concerns. I hope that you are asking this question in hopes of planting some seed and not to use timing as a method for birth control. The body is an imperfect and often unpredictable machine, and it is rare that a woman is so regular that she can pinpoint ovulation down to the day. Not to mention, sperm can live and retain the capacity to fertilize an egg for up to three full days. Hence, there is a word we sexperts use to describe guys who rely on this method alone for birth control: daddy.

STRANGE NEWS HEADLINES
ABIDJAN (Reuters) - Two prisoners in an Ivory Coast jail who courted and fell in love through a peep hole in an iron door have been released for a few hours to get married, one of their jailers said on Friday. Roland Guy Bouabre, serving a 3-year sentence for stealing a bicycle, courted Emilie Yobouet, who was given a one-year sentence for kidnapping a child, while he was delivering groceries for her to cook. He would take the groceries to the iron door and then a guard would deliver them. "You can find love in all kinds of places -- even prison," Daloa prison guard Norbert Bah told Reuters by telephone. Yobouet completed her sentence two days after the wedding but brings food to the jail each day to supplement her husband's meagre prison diet. "He eats much better now," said Bah.
